The "This is the life" program is about promoting the Central Coast Local Government Area. The Council does not, by way of this website, or the program as a whole, endorse, or hold itself out as endorsing any of the products, services or activities of any of the third parties referred to on this website or as part of the program.

Video Upload Terms and Conditions

Privacy Notification:

Some of the information that you are asked to provide on this form is personal information, such as your name and contact information. This information is being collected for the purpose of identification; communication in relation to; uploading and promotion of your video in This is the Central Coast, a community based YouTube channel facilitated by Central Coast Council. The information will be accessible by Council staff. It is voluntary to provide personal information on this form, however if the information is not provided, Council will not accept the video, or upload the video to This is the Central Coast. Applications to access or amend the personal information provided on this form may be made to Central Coast Council.

This is the Central Coast is a community-based YouTube channel and is facilitated by Central Coast Council. By choosing to upload a video onto This is the Central Coast you have agreed to these Terms and Conditions.


  1. "This is the Central Coast" means a community-based YouTube channel facilitated by Central Coast Council (ABN 47 054 613 35), Wyong Office | Hely St, Wyong NSW 2259 or Gosford Office |49 Mann Street, Gosford NSW 2250
  2. "User" means the party entering into this Agreement as a user of This is the Central Coast and its associated YouTube channel by way of uploading videos.


  1. Information on how to upload a video on This is the Central Coast forms part of the Terms and Conditions of use. Uploading a video on This is the Central Coast is deemed acceptance of these Terms and Conditions.
  2. Failure by Central Coast Council to enforce any of its rights under these Terms and Conditions, at any stage, does not constitute a waiver of those rights.
  3. This site is a community based initiative. The content and views/ opinions expressed in each video are those of the video maker and do not necessarily reflect the official policy or position of Central Coast Council.


  1. This is the Central Coast is open to all Australian and/or overseas residents who shoot a video:
    • In Central Coast;
    • Which has a subject matter based on something in/about Central Coast; OR
    • Which has a connection to Central Coast through the story or location of the video.
  2. Users under the age of 18 must have the consent of their parent or legal guardian to upload a video to This is the Central Coast. Proof of consent must be provided by ticking the consent box on the This is the Central Coast registration form, or in any other form, reasonably requested by Central Coast Council.
  3. Central Coast Council reserves the right, at its absolute discretion, to verify the validity of videos and personal details concerning the User and to reject and/or remove any video which has content that is not in accordance with these Terms and Conditions. No correspondence will be entered into in relation to any decision of Central Coast Council in relation to This is the Central Coast.
  4. Central Coast Council will not be liable for any damages for loss suffered as a result of participation by a User in This is the Central Coast.
  5. Each User releases, and hereby indemnifies to the full extent permitted by law, Central Coast Council, its employees, agents and assigns, from any and all liability which may arise from and/or all claims in connection with their participation in This is the Central Coast.

Video content & technical requirements:

  1.   2. Videos must not contain content which is; unlawful, inappropriate, constitutes harassment, defamatory, abusive, threatening, harmful, obscene, profane, sexually-orientated, politically motivated, extreme views, racially offensive, demonstrating criminal behaviour, drug use and/or showing neglect, violence or abuse of children, promotes or advertises businesses. Central Coast Council may refer any videos containing any such content, and the personal information of the User connected to any such video, to any law enforcement agency, at its sole discretion.
  3. Videos must not be incomplete or indecipherable.
  4. Videos must not contain messages or imagery that does not portray Central Coast in a positive light.
  5. Videos cannot be used to portray the User’s political persuasion and/or bias.
  6. If the User uploads a video that contains images of an alcoholic beverage, including the consumption of an alcoholic beverage, they must present it in a mature, balanced and responsible manner; therefore it must not encourage excessive consumption or abuse, and must not encourage under-age drinking. For further guidance on what is acceptable for images containing alcoholic beverages, please refer to the Alcohol Beverages Advertising code available from www.abac.org.au.
  7. Videos must be one of the following file types: .MOV, .MPEG4, MP4, .AVI, .WMV, .MPEGPS, .FLV, 3GPP, WebM
  8. Videos must not contain the name, or any other personal information of any of third party, without the consent of that third party.
  9. Videos must be the original work of the User.
  10. Videos must be between 90 seconds and 2 minutes in total. Videos over the 2 minute timeframe can be included at Central Coast Council’s discretion.

Channel Uploading:

  1. Users must upload their video via the This is the Central Coast website, unless otherwise arranged with Central Coast Council (see clause 21).
  2. After uploading, the user will be sent an email confirming whether their video has been approved or rejected. If the video is approved, it will appear on the This is the Central Coast website (www.thisisthecentralcoast.com.au). The user’s details will not be published on any occasion, unless it is part of the video’s title (at the discretion of the User).
  3. The approval or rejection of any video is at Central Coast Council’s absolute discretion. No correspondence will be entered into in relation to any decision of Central Coast Council in relation to This is the Central Coast.
  4. Videos must be uploaded along with the User’s full name, date of birth, phone number, postal address, and email address.


  1. Each User consents, and provides a non-exclusive, irrevocable, royalty free licence, to Central Coast Council using, editing and publishing, at its discretion, their video including the name, and age of the User; for the purpose of This is the Central Coast, including, but not limited to:
    • Promotion of This is the Central Coast in the media, both print and online;
    • Display and promotion at any event associated with This is the Central Coast;
    • Other non-commercial activities related to the functions of Central Coast Council, now or at any stage in the future.
  2. On all the above occasions, Central Coast Council will credit the User, and maintain the integrity and original intent of the User’s video.
  3. Each User agrees that Central Coast Council will not provide any financial compensation, in relation to any use of their video.
  4. Each User declares that he/she will not seek now or at any future time any financial compensation from Central Coast Council in relation to any use of their video.


  1. The User warrants that:
    • Each video submitted by the User is an original artistic work and does not infringe on the rights of any third party, including but not limited to, copyright, trademarks, trade secrets, privacy, publicity, personal or proprietary rights; and
    • He/or she has the necessary model and/or property permission as required.


  1. All personal information collected by Central Coast Council during the video uploading process will be dealt with in accordance with the National Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act. By registering as a User, you consent, until you advise otherwise, to receiving future marketing communications from Central Coast Council for an indefinite period, including via electronic communications.
  2. Central Coast Council, at its absolute discretion, will store videos at an external hosting site, which will be used by Central Coast Council at a later date for promotional purposes, and by agreeing to the Terms and Conditions, the User consents to such collection by the external hosting site. Users with direct requests to access, update or correct information need to Central Coast Council by phoning (02) 4350 5555.


  1. If Central Coast Council receives a complaint from a person/s featured in the User’s video, or a complaint about the User’s video, Central Coast Council may reject/remove the video from the This is the Central Coast website, at the Councils absolute discretion. No correspondence will be entered into in relation to any decision of Central Coast Council in relation to This is the Central Coast.
